Sunday Mornings

I LOVE Sunday mornings.  They are pretty relaxing around here.  The kids play for about an hour before Kel & I wrestle them into their clothes for church.  Then we pile into the car.
But before we head to church we always stop at Starbucks.  We pull up to the drive-thru speaker & my husband Kelly orders.
"Welcome to Starbucks...this is Kelly."
"Hi Kelly, it's Kelly."
"Oh HI KELLY!  What can I get you guys today?"

By then the kids are smiling big because they LOVE Miss Kelly & Bo usually has his window down by now to say hello.  She quickly became a friend to our whole family.  If she is not there...Bo gets a little grumpy & puts his window up.  When we pull up to the window we all chat with Kelly while our FIVE drinks quickly get made up.
I always get a little embarrassed & wonder what the people behind us think when she hands us all of our drinks AND our usual 1 slice of lemon bread & one slice of banana bread.  I always feel a little like a clown car :)
Rocco grunts & groans until I get his hot chocolate safely into his sippy cup & then...a few minutes of silence...but just a few as the boys don't come up for air until their drinks are gone.
But the second Bo's drink is gone it is back to goofiness.
And almost always a few rounds of singing some old country songs together on the top of our lungs.  Tom T. Hall's THAT SONG IS DRIVING ME CRAZY is a favorite, you might need it off of itunes :)

Then almost too quickly we arrive at church & everyone piles out & heads their seperate ways.

I love to walk a step behind the kids as Annie enjoys walking the boys to their Sunday School classes.
Sunday Mornings make me smile.

  5. Okay, that's it. I officially change my new year's resolution. (Read the other one on my blog.) I want to have Sunday mornings like yours Libbie!!!

Our Sunday mornings are tension filled as we race to get to church on time and USUALLY we just make it by the skin of our teeth.

To sweeten the pot, we do have a coffee shop we could stop at but we'd have to drive past our church to get there. Maybe I could just make the drinks for everyone before we go?

Hmmm, you've given me food for thought...

Happy New Years to you and your delightful family!

  14. I love Sundays, too...and reading about yours made my heart happy. I can just imagine you all driving through good ol Starbucks and 'knowing' the person who works there! I'm sure you make her day. I think it's so great that you make Sunday a happy day in your home, I hear so many people mope about it because the weekend is over and the next day is back to the grind...but mercy, it should be a happy, restful day!

  23. What a cute post! How fun this will be for your kiddos to see in years to come...:) I wish we would have documented some of our "getting to church" episodes...lol. That last picture of your daughter walking her brother off to his class is priceless!!

Our oldest daughter works at Starbuck's so this post made me smile..:)! She comes home with all sorts of funny stories about people going through the drive-thru. They can hear everything that goes on in your car before you get there. They see the husband and wife interaction of placing their orders due to the camera too (my hubby and I have been warned..ha!).
One time when we visited our daughter at work we tried to take a picture of her behind the counter, and we got yelled at to "STOP!" They told us taking pictures was against their rules!! We thought they might like the advertisement??!!! I guess you got lucky to capture this! :)
