Flashback Craft

Is there anything more fun than rollerskating?

Last week we hit the rink with some friends.

The thing that surprised me was who liked it the most:

He's only 2!

Of course he rarely went the right way.

But he kept going & going for 3 hours!

He easily found a date for the couples skate.

Bo preferred to ride.

Me?  oh yeah I pulled out the old roller blades.
But I was a little embarrassed that someone
showed up in my same outfit:

Actually if I had legs like him I might
actually get some of those shorts!

But it brought me back...

To the days of leg warmers & sticker books.
So guess what  I made Annie this week?

A little typing & laminating:

She loved it.

Now we just have to keep our eyes open for some Smellies.
That page is still empty :)

What do you remeber from the 80's?

  1. Looks like you all had lots of fun, I have never seen those skating helpers thingies! I guess I show my age when I remember the 80's as the decade I had all my kids, 81,83 & 88....
    Have a wonderful week

  2. What fun! I haven't roller skated in forever. I'd have to borrow the support thingy that Rocco is using I'm sure.
Annie sure looks like she's having a great time. Nothing better that that sweet smile!!

I made sticker albums for my girls when they were little...I'm glad that something so simple is still so popular.

  4. That looks like so much fun. I remember skating way back when. In the 80's my children were skating.
Now I think I would like to use one of those skating walker thingies!

  7. Hmmm... I remember Muppet Babies, and my pink sweatsuit I wore to school, and those socks with the wrinkly cuffs, and jelly shoes (or were those the 90s? I was young...). I remember Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles. :)

It looks like you guys had tons of fun! I haven't been skating in forever. Do you plan on going again soon?

  8. Rocco is doing great for just being 2. Maybe he's a prodigy! :-) I've never seen those bar things before. That's a great idea. Usually we just hold the kids up or skate backwards in front of them.

I don't remember a whole lot from the 80s, I was born in the earlier part and by the time I remember things it was almost over. I do remember smellies though, now that you mention them. I've seen a few here and there, mostly at craft stores (in the kids section) and maybe Walmart or Target (again, in the kids craft section).

Were slap bracelets 80 or 90s? If she hasn't already discovered those, I'm sure she would love them. they are making a come back!

  9. Love it! My best friend had a huge van and 10 siblings-each one got to bring a friend to take roller skating and those are some of my best memories. My husband just found his sticker book and we were having so much fun looking at all of them. When I turn 30 in September, I am planning my own 80's Birthday party with all the 80's essentials including mixed tapes as party favors! Thanks for the fun memory!

  12. Oh my goodness!!! LOL you crack me up! :) What a good laugh you gave me this morning...:))) Those shorts! lol

What do I remember from the 80's??!! Having babies...:) All born in the 80's.....1980, 1984, 1988! Woohooo! :) We were busy!

Your post brought back some heartwarming memories for me too. We use to hitch a ride on our church bus to go rollerskating. It would drive through our neighborhood, pick up kids...and off we would go to youth activities. One of them being, "Rollerskating night!"...OH, the good ol' days! :)

Happy day to you!! Thanks for the smiles...:)

    xoxo...Gloria

  14. Oh, I used to love roller skating! I remember those roller rink days with the kids and even when I was growing up. These pictures look so fun. I can't believe your two year old skated for three hours. Yes, the 80's was a special time for me because that is when the girls were born. This post brought back sweet memories. Thank you.

  15. I loved skating and went every Friday nite as a child. I think whoever thought up that walker type thing for young kids to skate with was brilliant. We just had to fall a lot!

In the 80's I had growing children and most of my memories are centered around them. They were boys, so I don't remember sticker books. :)

  18. Love the roller skating thing. When I look at the picture all I can think of is the 80's music they use to play. Love the sticky book! I totally remember doing that and trading sticker with people. I keep an eye out for some smellies. Oh and those shorts someone need to call the fashion police:0) Just kidding
