Our Shark Attack

Most people don't want to see sharks where they are swimming.
Not us...we saw a fisherman catch a little shark
& we ran right over to see it.

This was Bo's favorite part of the trip.

When the fisherman threw him back another man
picked him up to see him.

So Kate (My sis) says, "Can I see that for a second?"

Meanwhile (tiny, helpless, poor, defensless) Baby Roo had been lying peacefully on the beach.

I mean just look at the sweet little thing...

And Kate decides it would be cool to get a pic
with Roo & the Shark.

Cute...
until the shark started flopping around like crazy!!!

And a man starts yelling, "He has teeth girls!" at us.
And I start yelling, "Get him!!!  Get him!!!"   at Kate as I am still snapping pictures.

Which she does.

Poor Roo.

First shark attack at only 2 months old.

  1. What great pictures! Sure glad to know little Roo was rescued from the shark attack before the teeth were used. That is the smallest shark I have ever seen. How interesting and fun that the children got to see and touch it.

  3. Oh my! It is so tiny! I can't believe ya'll were even carrying it around. You would think it couldn't do much but I bet it would grab on and not let go. :/ Poor Roo! He has no clue! :) Happy day to you, Tammy

  4. What a memory you will all have from this. And photos to prove it! I can just hear Roo when he gets older... "Remember when you people all let me get attacked by a shark?!" Fun :)

  7. what a fun vacation! i love the ocean, but swimming in it’s a little scary when there are things like those little sharks swimming along with me! :)
it takes us 24 hours to drive down to florida, so i understand. it’s a long trip!

  8. Oh man, if I start getting hate mail, I am diggging up some dirt on you :) And luckily Roo had me with my catlike reflexes and lightning speed to save him while you captured it on pictures.

Your life would be so boring without me!

  9. You sound like you had the best time! I still can't believe you came all the way down here and didn't tell me ahead of time. I'm going to pout. :(

Ok, so I won't pout, but you gotta let me know next time! I wanted to see your pretty babies!

I'm really glad you guys had fun. The beaches up that way are gorgeous and it's a tad bit cooler than the beaches down our way. Did you get any of the rain we had?

  10. OH NOOOO!!!! First off - the beach trip looks awesome! Your baby Roo seriously is the cutest. And that shark almost looks fake because it is such a miniature! I have never seen one that tiny! I am sure when Roo grows up he will think that is both cool and maybe a little bit reckless! ;)

  11. Now Libbie, you need to stop torturing us that way!

Our family has spent time in Florida on the Atlantic coast side in the Cape Canaveral area. I've got family that lives there full time.

A few years ago we were all out to dinner together, celebrating Em's birthday. While we were out, my nephew made plans to go surfing the next morning. I asked his mom if she ever worried about sharks. She told me, no, the whole shark scare was overrated.

The next morning while we are driving back to the condo from church I get a call from my nephew's mom. She is hysterical. Turns out, my nephew had gotten attacked by a shark! He ended being fine, but his leg was a mess for a while. It could have been so much worse, but what a scare!

They're so cute when they're little (sharks I mean). I've never even seen one that small before. I'm glad Roo was rescued by Kate from the evil shark and that all is well in your world. Your posts never fail to crack me up!
