Balloon Joy

It was one of those summer nights, the week before school started...no one wanted to go in because you just knew there wouldn't be many nights left like this.  I always get so sentimental because I know that the next summer the kids will be so much more grown up.
So, we were at the park with our cousins soaking in every last minute.  I looked at the sky & said to my sister Kate, "Oh that's sad...some kid lost their balloon."  WAYYY in the distance you could see the black shape of balloons.
About 30 minutes later I couldn't believe it, "Look!  Those balloons are landing right here!  Bo go get those balloons!"
Attatched to the balloons was a little basket.
And the basket was filled with goodies
for the kids who found the balloons!
We were so excited!
We took the ballons home, changed out the goodies,
and Nature Girl helped Rocco send them on their way.

Up, up & away.

I think we found a new summer tradition.
Next year, I will put our city & lift off time in the cup.
& maybe an email address...maybe :)

It sure made the night special!

  3. OH I just love this! I would have been beyond ecstatic but I think my children would stare up in the sky for weeks on end after that hoping for more balloon to come their way! When I was a kid we did this at school. I grew up in MD and I guess back then we never worried about giving out our address but we did with a note asking whoever found it to send a letter to see how far it went. A sweet girl sent me a note saying it came from Delaware! I was so excited! I think this is a great idea except for the giving out our address part. I like that you will put the city on there. :) You always have the most fun posts Lib!

  4. What a wonderful idea! That must have been so amazing to find those special treats. I will have to remember this myself.

It is Spring over here and the days are getting longer and warmer for us. Isn't it strange to think that you guys will soon be bunkering down and getting ready for snow!

Take care and enjoy the last of the summer days!

    Best wishes,
    Natasha.

  15. What a cute idea! We live out in the country so our balloons would have to come from pretty far away... But, it COULD happen, right? :)

    Fun!
