Cucumber Boats

This summer my neighbor came over with a big cucumber,
he thought we might like it to carve into cucumber boats.  
Cucumber boats? Why yes, we would!

We had a bunch of too big cucumbers too,
 each kid made their own.  

I carved & they decorated.
Straw, paper & tape.
We can handle that!

Rocco picked the "fancy one."




& when Bo's sank he said,
"Cool!  Mine's a submarine!"




As I was taking pictures a frog hopped right over my shoulder
into the pond making us all scream!
Yes...me too :)


 
It took awhile for the kids to sail again 
after Mr. Hoppy surprised us.


But it was one of those afternoons where you just knew...
...they would remember.



And to a mom...those afternoons are priceless.

    Yes, priceless they are.

    I have never thought of or heard of cucumber boats, I think it's a fine idea.

    I think we could all learn a little something from Bo's attitude, too!

    Cucumber boats! Love it! :) I'm not so sure my girls would enjoy it (they're 18 & 15) but I know my boy would.

    He just had his G.I. Joes out yesterday. Sigh... He used to pray for a brother but as he's gotten older he knows that we won't be blessed with another son.

    You are right about remembering simple but special days. My children bring up the mundane as much as the special when they remenisce.

    To a Mom they ARE precious. I love the way you capture their moments. Ha, my kids would've loved making cucumber boats instead of having to eat them. :)

    Pure Joy my friend...some sweet memories you will not forget. Oh how I would of loved to have met up with you last week....your area of the world is lovely...even though I was in the hotel most of the time but what I saw of St.Paul was beautiful
