Shell Jars 2

I know...I know...I already posted about the shell jars!  :)  But, I finally made Bo & Rocco their jars, so that when we go to the beach this summer, they will have their own special place to keep a shell to remember our trip!  I just wanted to show you all that I actually got something done!

They make GREAT baby gifts, personalized &
pretty inexpensive.

First, you can get these jars at Target.    I got the boys' bigger ones for 5 bucks at Target.  I actually like the little ones better and they are even cheaper (pantry isle).

I picked up this little pack of shells at Michael's (just a craft store)for $1.00.
Next, pick a color & paint. :)
Attatch the shells with a hot glue gun.
Find some lettering you like & just stick it on.
Done!  See?  Easy, cute, keepsake!

Just perfect to start your shell collections!  One shell goes in each time you visit the ocean!  I like to use a permanent marker to mark them with this information:
child's age
date
place
number of shell put in the jar
who traveled with you

Bo has 1

Annie has 4.
Poor Rocco has an empty jar.
But, he will get his first one this summer!

If you live near an ocean you might just use it to dump shells into. :)
But one thing is for sure....the kids LOVE their jars.

Hey Rocco!  I just put that on there!
Oh, & if Rocco comes to visit you...keep it up high :)
Let me know if you make one!
I'd LOVE to see it!

Cute, Cute, Cute, Cute! I just love everything about these! The lettering is my favorite part but I am loving the seashell idea. Of course, I live near the beach and we have lots of different beaches to go to. And our favorite place to go is the outer banks in NC where my in=laws have a beach house. You got my wheels turning girl! Woo hoo!

Very cute! I have been making similar jars this week, using jam jars and spraying the lids with a textured stone paint that looks like sand, mine are for storing my beads in, but I have ran out of glue gun sticks so I cant put the shells on yet :(

I am so happy you stopped by French Kissed and left a comment! It led me here to your wonderful site. These shell jars are fabulous and I love the way you personalize them...also that you are introducing your extremely adorable children to the joy of collecting thess gifts from nature. So nice to meet you!

That's a wonderful idea! Do you know how to take the smell away? Just soak them about an hour in water and a small amount of clorox. If the colors dim a bit-you can get a varnish spray (at Michaels) to make them shiny!

I love the idea of writing the date and info on the inside.

Libbie, thank you so much for the darling journals! I'm going to start my character, Della writing in one right away. :) AND are those real-life, one of a kind ANNIE bracelets? I'm so excited. Thank you so much. ((HUGS))

Awww, poor little shell-less Rocco!

Those jars are just perfect! I have so many seashells laying around, I'm gonna bust out the glue and get creative, too. :-)

Have a wonderful week!

Love this idea! Your little ones are adorably adorable! I love the name Rocco. Where did you find it? I wish I lived by the sea but I am in the high country. Your kids will have so much fun and be so proud of all their memories!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!:) I just LOVE these jars!! What a great idea! We always collect tons of shells at the beach, they usually make it home in a ziplock bag and stuffed into a drawer! I will be sure to make this project before heading to the shore this summer!:)

How cute are these! I have little bottles that I fill with dirt from places we visit. I have no idea what I will ever do with them but I like having a small piece of places I love right here at home.

Now you have me thinking. You are so inspiring, Miss Libbie!
