Treasure Hunt

Saturday was looking to be a LOOOOOONG day.  We ~ as in Bo, is an early riser & by 9 a.m. we have often been up for 3 hours.

This Saturday we went on a treasure hunt.  First up...we all made our own treasure maps.  Since Bo cut his up trying to "decorate" it...I gave him mine.
Then, we slapped it into contact paper to make it easy to roll up...keeping a lot on the ends makes it extra fun for the little hands to roll up.

And you just HAVE to roll it up so you can have a telescope...
...to assist in finding the treasure.
My favorite part was Bo dragging me around & around the house with his little hand in mine, following the map.  "We need to go into the jungle to find the letter, mom."  He kept calling the letter X on the map "the letter."  We never did find "the letter" but we found lots & lots of treasure.

Sounds like so much fun. and definitely requires creativity and energy. I'm not a grandma yet, so 6 sounds way way early to me. LOL! Love the "treasure"!

Oh I can't wait to have kiddos so I can go on treasure hunts, how adorable! Thanks so much for your words about my race...I totally thought about your advice and you are right about running ahead, except this time I can eat my own words because my friend ran ahead of me and didn't even ask me if she could, ha ha. Not that she needed to but I was proud of her for at the end pushing ahead and getting to the finish a few minutes ahead of myself. But...I was dealing with cramps and had done a 9 mile jog 2 days prior, I guess I am trying to make myself feel better but am proud of her still the same. Anyway, this is getting long. Enjoy the rest of your week! :)

What a sweet memory -- hang on to that one!

(I had friends who didn't want to overemphasize Santa, so they did a treasure hunt for gifts on Christmas morning instead of finding them under the tree.)

Treasure maps are great for pirate birthday parties, too!

Like a story from Winnie the Pooh. It's not the treasure you find, it's the joy in the journey. Happy Hunting!
