Obsessed :)

I have a new hobby...between Christmas pagents & boutiques & all the holiday cheer I have fallen in love...with candle making!

I asked my hubby for candle making supplies for my birthday & they right on my birthday!  So this weekend I enjoyed the 16 inches of snow as an excuse to stay home & make some candles!

First, I chopped up the wax.

You can buy it flaked but the
only shop around here sells it in slabs.
Then, I wicked the glass & picked some scents.

Then just heat, mix, & pour!

I ended up with the best smelling gifts!!!

And I am making more scents today!!!
I can hardly wait!

I still have A LOT to learn but I am having so much fun!

Although there is a DANGER...
...little boys lurking about with no supervision.

When I was chopping up wax today, I could see them, but when I was chopping wax AND talking on the phone, Bo knew I was checked out for a few minutes & somehow he managed to walk right passed me with a bag of chocolate chips.

So even though they were "quietly watching t.v."
They were still up to no good!

P.S.  In my year of blogging I do apprecaite that I only have received one comment about my bad parenting...actually it referenced that Bo was the type of child that would one day be in jail for murder...so thank you very much to the rest of you for being so sweet :)  Even though I show the trouble I do not show the consequences so I am sure it does appear that way :)  I actually think blogging makes me a BETTER mom...instead of yelling & screaming I calm down while grabbing my camera & then can calmly have the punishment fit the crime :)

Libbie - you have no idea.....
Your blog posts bring back such memories of my boys when they were little. I laugh until I cry. If only I had a blog back then....I would be posting very similar stories.
I lvoe that you take pictures....you're right, it defintiely gives you time to step back and formulate your response.
Your children are lucky to have such a smart, loving mommy!!

Here's a peek at one of my sons escapades if you have a chance to read it:

Hi Libbie! O.k. first off, How can anyone question your parenting? These are adorable boys doing boy stuff, and as for the chocolate chips, I have been known to sneak the bag out of the kitchen too! The fact that they are still smiling and so are you tells exactly the right story here... you love your little boogers and they are blessed to have you!!! And now on to the candles, oh my gosh, they look like boutique candles and i bet your home smells fabulous! Keep up the fantastic work! Theresa xoxo

Libbie those candles are adorable! I love the labels! Good for you for finding an obsession, I mean hobby! ;) Your little ones are just like everyone else's', busy, busy, busy! I don't know how people can question your parenting, you are a wonderful mom!! I feel you pain, my boy knows exactly when I have checked out for a few, it is harmless and they are curious! I love seeing your pictures and hearing your stories and knowing that I am not the only one!! So thank you!!! :)

You a bad mom????
As IF!!!!
Gimme that person's name, I'll deal with 'em!

How nifty that you make your own candles and even have cute little labels, too. :-)

XOXO,
Anne

Um, there is absolutely no way someone should question your parenting. I love how a blog gives an outlet to see these situations as funny. Of course, in the moment you need to deal with them but we will look back on them with fondness and have memories with photos we would not otherwise have. You bless me with every post that contains the mischief of your boys. I laugh out loud EVERY time! And your candles! I love them! How cozy of a hobby! Those labels are AWESOME and those scents...mmmmm. I am thinking I will to be your neighbor some day. We would have oodles of fun!

What a pair of boys they are! Their antics remind me of my brother so much. And taking time to cool off makes you a better mom, I think. They're just doing what kids, especially boys, do.
The candles are pretty awesome! Everyone needs a hobby and it's even better when it's something productive!

I am actually quite glad those are chocolate chips, and not rabbit poo pellets. That's what I thought they were at first! LOL

Candle making sounds fun!

Lovin Your Candles, That label is Perfect ~ Did we miss a Birthday, If I did, Happy Belated B-Day to You.... Good thing you can't hear Me Singing, I think I do hear some Dogs Howling in the background somewhere.... Now for Parenting, Every little boy needs to get into at least 1 bag of Chocolate Chips in their young years ~ Messy Face & Hands & then of course the Big Chocolate Kiss You get afterwards. I am seeing it all over again with My Grandson Miller who just turned 15 months, I see My son Ian in him all the time.... Let them Be Boys, Tomorrow they'll be 22 & have a girlfriend of their own & Not come see their Mom too often ~ Oops, My Mind was wandering, I remember like it was yesterday, so Treasure it all, All the Mess, All the Fun.... I Love seeing them Play & getting into things.... Keep up the great work....

So how do you do your labels, wow! Beautiful! When will we see a paypal buddon?
And surely the person saying Bo would end up in jail for murder was teasing... surely. :)
I see intelligence in their keen observations of being able to know when to be unnoticed...brilliant!

I can't believe someone would say something so harsh, just from the view they get of your parenting through your blog.. Bo is just a mischievous little boy, he is a not a BAD kid.. I think that person mustn't have been a parent themselves, because most little boys are like that. I think it's great that you can write about it in a fun way on here, it so much better to think about it in a funny way once it's over and done with, then to be stressed and upset constantly..

Oh sweet friend...I had to chuckle to myself to think someone would leave such a silly comment...

Years ago women would gather around a quilt and share their trials and tribulations. These days we "gather" electronically and share our joys and challenges. I'd love to meet my blogger friends face to face, but in most cases it's simply not possible. So it's our community to vent, relax, laugh a bit, etc.

I don't think that blogging makes you a bad mom. Far from it! I know it helps me to keep things in perspective. Hopefully you are blessed in many ways in your blogging and other hobbies too. I think it's good for our children to see that we have interests outside of being a mother. I say that as a homeschool mom, spending a lot of time with my precious three children!

Your candles are wonderful. I love candles and always have a bunch burning around here. Maybe I need to take up candle making!

Blessings to you and your adorable boys (and daughter too, of course!)

Hi Libbie!
Your boys are adorable! I have three (grown now) and I`m sure I could share some stories with you!
Love your candles.
Blogging does help to calm your life. Just taking the time to stop life by taking photos help realize that life goes by so fast and blogging keeps a journal for us.
Your boys will grow up and you have your blog to remember those chocolate chips!
Thanks for sharing-
Blessings-
Kim :0)

I love candles. I think it is so neat that your making them. I would buy some! I am sorry someone was so rude to make a comment about your parenting. That is ugly. Based on reading your blog you seem to be a sweet, enchanting, and fun Mom that any child would be blessed to have!

Libbie honey I don't know which one to comment on first the 16 inches of snow, candle making or you a bad mom. haha
Girl just give the name of someone thinking you are a bad mom. Pearl will take care of that for me. If I could of been the mom you are I would of been in Hog Heaven as they say. Just know there are a lot of us who love your parenting skills. You and Kate are the best.
16 inches of snow I would die...haha Can not even imagine that much snow. When I come to see you guys I guess it will not be winter time.
I have always wanted to make candles. Love the way you did these their so pretty. Great gifts everyone will love them.
Merry Christmas

Kozy Shack is a pudding cup but it's more natural than others. You can buy them at the co-op but even more exciting than that... you can buy them in bulk at Costco!! Have you been there yet? A lot more natural and organic items than Sam's. I'm a fan. People seem more cheerful there too.

I've never seen/smelled soy candles before. I am now googling it because of you :)

How dare anyone criticize your parenting skills. What kind of person would be so judgmental? And you are exactly right. You can not give your family care if you don't first care for yourself. Enjoy your candle making and enjoy their escapades, they don't last long and you'll be laughing about them with fond memories years later.

I'm still steaming that someone would actually say your child would end up in jail for murder, she's deserves a tongue lashing and a whipping.

Hugs...Tracy :)

You're making fancy candles with designer labels?? How much and where can I order? You never cease to amaze me little sister.

As for those wild and wooly boys of yours: Do you have any idea how many times I cry after seeing their antics? They make me remember my own boys at those ages. Thank you and keep posting.

BTW....I bet Bo ends up a pastor with 6 kids. Hey, it could happen.
