Brown Bears

My sister Kate (Auntie Cake) invited us all over for a bonfire on what seemed like the last warm night of the year.  When we arrived she had a hot cocoa bar & drinks set out on a beautifully decorated table down by the fire.  The scene was set with an elegant soup buffet table, hay bales, lanterns, candles & cozy blankets tossed around. I just want to give you a peek at some of her details so you can enjoy them too!

As the sun set...the fun began!

I am always threatening my nephew "Little Fireman" with kisses.  I think he really wants one!

Chillin' with my dad & my son.

Here is our hostess.  I am pretty lucky to be invited to all her wonderful parties!

Now here is my contribution...Brown Bears!  Not exactly elegant, but those who know me will agree that these are my style.  Here is how we made them:

*Toss a split hot dog bun in a pan of melted butter.
*Throw them into a bag of sugar.

*Sprinkle with cinnamon.

*Wrap in tin foil.

*Put them on the fire to cook.

It is nice to have tongs nearby to pull them from the fire.  We set them on a rock to cool.

When you open them up, you can see the butter & sugar are caramelized which makes this a sweet, gooey treat!

Our friends Nancy & Marilyn gave them a try.  I will admit they are a little hard to eat.

I am not the best cook so I burnt a few, but when they are cooked just right...they are delicious!

Let me know how they turn out if you try them!
Sarah...put some in your chiminea!

Bonfire night looks like so much fun! I don't live near any of my family. I'm kind of missing them.

Your recipe sounds yummy! But I have to admit, I read it quickly at first and was horrified when I skipped over the word "bun" I thought you were putting cinnamon and sugar on HOT DOGS! LOL! After I read it again, I thought they sounded delish!
